Heat recovery is implemented with a heat pump, which recovers heat from the ventilation exhaust air and uses it to heat both the domestic water and the fresh air in the ventilation. Compare the price of the device with a separate heater, ventilation unit and heat pump - which you cannot even get the same benefit from separately, i.e. heating both the supply air and domestic water with a heat pump.

As its name suggests, the exhaust air pump uses the house's own exhaust air as its heat source, which provides up to 6,000-10,000 kWh of 'free' energy per year. A package the size of a domestic hot water heater takes care of the ventilation, heating and production of hot domestic water for the entire house, saving energy. Nilan's heat pump-based heat recovery means that for every kilowatt hour used by the compressor, the device continuously produces 3-4 times more heat in the supply air.
